To enroll in the Beginner – Intermediate Freediver Course, an individual must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (16 years with parent/guardian consent)
  • Be able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins OR at lease 300m non-stop with mask, fins and snorkel
  • Have completed the AIDA Medical Form
  • Have completed the Liability Release

This course covers the necessary skills and knowledge for a non-competitive recreational freediver to safely freedive. It is a beginner course designed for students who are already confident in the water. The purpose of the course is to familiarise the student with the skills, knowledge, safety procedures and enjoyment of freediving. Students will be introduced to the basic disciplines of freediving: Static Apnea, Dynamic Apnea, freediving techniques and freediving safety. The course is NOT aiming toward competitive freediving and shall not include competition rules and regulations. The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are to be used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning, and safety techniques.

THEORY SESSION (Morning – 2 hours)

PRACTICAL/POOL SESSION (Afternoon – 3 hours)

  • Static Apnea (STA) – a minimum breath hold of 2 minutes must be achieved for the certification.
  • Dynamic Apnea (DYN) – a minimum distance of 40m on one breath must be achieved for the certification.
  • Safety training – the student must demonstrate effective LMC and Black Out rescue procedures in the pool.
  • Buddying – STA and DYN
  • Finning Technique

To complete the AIDA 2 Pool course you must:

-Create an account on the AIDA system so that we can add you to the course

-Accept the invitation to join the course.

-Take the online multiple choice exam (this can be done in your own time).

[Students must complete and get at least a 75% grade in the exam to pass and become a qualified AIDA 2 Pool Freediver]

If you are not able to complete the requirements for the AIDA 2 Pool requirements then we can still certify you as an AIDA 1 Freediver if you’d prefer.
