To enroll in our AIDA 2 Pool Freediver Course, an individual must:
- Be 18 years of age or older (16 years with parent/guardian consent)
- Be able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins OR at lease 300m non-stop with mask, fins and snorkel
- Completed an AIDA 1 course
- Have completed the AIDA Medical Form
- Have completed the Liability Release
This course covers the necessary skills and knowledge for a non-competitive recreational freediver to safely freedive. This course is designed for students who have already completed their AIDA 1 course. The purpose of the course is to familiarise the student with the skills, knowledge, safety procedures and enjoyment of freediving. Students will be introduced to the basic disciplines of freediving: Static Apnea, Dynamic Apnea, freediving techniques and freediving safety. The course is NOT aiming toward competitive freediving and shall not include competition rules and regulations. The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are to be used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning, and safety techniques.
THEORY SESSION (Online/at home – Self Study).
You will be sent the AIDA 2 manual upon booking and are expected to read though the manual and ensure you have studied it enough, in order to take your exam on the day of the course in a classroom session. The theory covers:
- Introduction to Freediving
- Freediving Breathing Cycle
- Basic Physiology of Freediving
- Equalisation
- Freedive Technique
- Safety in Freediving
- Equipment in Freediving
- Freediving Disciplines
PRACTICAL/POOL SESSION (Morning – 2-3 hours)
- Static Apnea (STA) – a minimum breath hold of 2 minutes must be achieved for the certification.
- Dynamic Apnea (DYN) – a minimum distance of 40m on one breath must be achieved for the certification.
- Safety training – the student must demonstrate effective LMC and Black Out rescue procedures in the pool.
- Buddying – STA and DYN
- Finning Technique
Exam and Knowledge Review Session:
After your practical session and lunch break, you will be given the exam to take in person, in a classroom setting. You’ll have 2 hours in order to complete the exam and go through the knowledge review session before receiving your certificates and signing the course completion forms.
To complete the AIDA 2 Pool course you must:
-Create an account on the AIDA system so that we can add you to the course
-Accept the invitation to join the course.
-Take the multiple choice exam (this will be done in the afternoon after your practical pool session).

The course price includes all educational course material, certification fees and equipment.
